  • / READ THE WONDERFUL PANELS’ TESTIMONIALS BELOW:

/ “The Beauty Expo was a fantastic evening of bloggers, models, designers and beauty. It was a great opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new people in the industry. The event was well organized, everything ran on time. I received a lot of useful insight from the Fashion Bloggers Connect panelists. And, as always I look forward to attending the next SFFAMA event!”

/ Thanks so much for asking me to participate in the Bloggers Connect panel.  I was honored to be selected!  As usual SFFAMA put together an exciting event & the turnout was fabulous.  It’s awesome to have the opportunity to network with other fashion industry professionals in a casual atmosphere.  I definitely need to make the effort to attend more SFFAMA events.  It’s always worth the long drive for me!  Thanks for all the work you do, Owen Geronimo, & thanks again for asking me to participate.  You always throw the best parties!

/ Every event with SFFAMA is one of community. It’s about connecting the creative minds that are bursting forth from this localised hub of style and technology. I feel honored to be a part of this movement as we bring the spotlight onto San Francisco. Thank you Owen Geronimo and SFFAMA!

/ I was asked to speak on a panel with 3 fabulous ladies about fashion blogging. It as such a terrific event. By the end it was standing room only. The crowd had great questions and feedback for us and overall it was a very inspiring evening. After suffering from a lack of inspiration and an enormous creative block I’m starting to feel passionate about doing stuff again.

The Beauty Expo 2011. Styling Competition Judges

On his arrival to SF’s city scene, Allure magazine named Griffin, “One of the top stylists in San Francisco!” He received his training from the Aveda Institute and began his career in top salons in Minneapolis and Los Angeles while also freelancing for movies, commercials and music videos. After years of working the salon grind, he embarked on his own and continued to build his reputation from his loft in SOMA. It was during his solo work that his female clients inspired the concept for the barber lounge. A hip, unpretentious place to bring their guys for some much needed maintenance while receiving their own upscale treatment, in an inviting unconventional scene for all to enjoy. This is definitely not your father’s barbershop or your mother’s beauty parlor!

Mario B’s Productions provides a safe place in the community for talented inner-city youth ages 5-25, who are interested in modeling, dance & theater. The program takes a “New Breed” approach to the fashion industry by introducing a unique performance style called “Theatrical Modeling”, combining dance, fashion and theater, to create a contemporary approach to modeling. The curriculum uses music, cultural influences and originality as its base and expands into an array of Lights, Camera, and fashionable entertainment.

Amy Soderlind is a freelance Wardrobe Stylist. Some of her works can be seen in CHEW Magazine, Papercut, Fiasco and more. Working on her MFA at the Academy of Art, she found a way to simultaneously travel to different countries, finding a passion in working with artisans at their gifted craft. With hopes of a future business where she is able to deliver the goods “of the moment” directly to an American market that will respond and in turn, will significantly change the lives and communities she has fallen in love with. She is currently working on a line of accessories and hand batik head scarves for  Summer/Fall. She also runs her blog at www.refusestolabel.com

Brad Carrick is the owner and founder of SOLZ Shoes. SOLZ Shoes combines a lifestyle shoe company with an extendable microbranding platform.  It has designed and patented a unique, lightweight casual shoe that folds up in a small “capsule” that can be clipped on to bags or clothing. It has also launched “The Walk Street Movement” and “The Sneak In Artist” as additional lifestyle brands. SOLZ is the name of the company and also the flagship brand. SOLZ shoes is marketed as the “Ultimate Beach Shoes” and a platform for self-branding, sponsorship opportunities enabling working with clients to license or franchise any of their brands.

Recap: FASHION MASH-UP Workshop 05/19/2011

“San Francisco Fashion Mash-Up discussion is an effective way for people to get a deeper, non-biased opinion from people who are living the reality of fashion on a daily basis. Either from a creative or a business point of view, the audience will be amazed by the basic things to which you have to pay attention or do to succeed in the glamorous yet unfair fashion world"

Thank you SFFAMA! It was a pleasure to present our product at Fashion Mash-Up. The feedback and encouragement we have gained from the experience is invaluable. Our team is more inspired than ever, and eager to serve the needs of local fashion merchants and designers in San Francisco… and the world! The Fashion Mash-Up was our initial product presentation (www.omgiluv.it) and we were very happy with the results.

SFFAMA is one of the best resources for anyone in the Bay Area interested in networking with remarkable entrepreneurs in fashion and design. The community SFFAMA is creating in San Francisco is second-to-none, a truly diverse and positive group of fashion savvy doers. I’ve learned so much from attending the Fashion Mash-Up from the incredible speakers who provide invaluable insight on how to effectively navigate the trials and tribulations facing the go-getters of the Bay Area. I’ve also garnered wonderful friendships and colleagues who continue to inform and inspire. Kudos to SFFAMA! Great Job, Fantastic Event.

“I got the opportunity to talk about my company ALYLEE.com at Fashion Mash-Up organized by Owen Geronimo on May 19 2011. ALYLEE’s goal is to provide a marketing platform to Fashion Designers, Fashion Bloggers and Stylists so that they can promote themselves and develop their brand name at Zero cost to them. The event was great, very well put together. I got good feedback and generated new ideas and friendships from the event. I recommend anyone into fashion to attend one of these events and expose themselves to the fashion culture of San Francisco.

” I have had the pleasure of being part of SFFAMA for about a month but it seems much longer as I have made some wonderful contacts with some great networking . SFFAMA Fashion Mash-up is an extremely informative session . It enables the new and aspiring talent with the necessary skills and knowledge for the industry. You meet real people with real goals and challenges. This helps open up new areas of growth and convert the same into reality. From hosting fashion shows to running workshops like portfolio nights and Fashion Mash-Up, to coordination between different departments & maintaining great relations, it is done with excellence, competence and commitment. Ultimately, SFFAMA settles for nothing less than near perfection when working in a group environment and I think anyone and everyone on board with the team is on path to success. I wish the team the best for all their future endeavors.“

Fashion Mash-Up is a great event where attendees and speakers are provided an opportunity to discuss a great topic related to fashion industry. This particular session of 05/19/2011 was a session where I along with fellow designers, was given an opportunity as a speaker to talk about our journey of progress from a starter to a point where we are today. The questionnaires put up by host Owen Geronimo covered all aspects of the progress log . We also discussed how-to steps in making it all happen and challenges met to achieve those set goals in a given time frame…We also had a great experience in answering questions in discussion about these aspects with the full-house attendees. All in all I think, Fashion Mash-Up is a great platform for open panel discussion about any topic related to fashion industry. .. I thank everyone involved and look forward to attending many such sessions.

"Awesome event tonight! Met great people.  Great energy.  Thanks for organizing it.”

    ABOUT KAJAN PADRAIG

Kajan Padraig started on December 4, 2009 by Kanjana (Cake) Carlos and Patrick Steber, who have built the company from the ground up. Our first collection was made up of knit T’s, dresses, and tunic style tops. Which became a highly successful collection, because of the quality of fabric, the cut of the designs and Kajan Padraig’s unique design elements.

We are both highly educated and trained in the design and construction of couture, made-to-measure clothing. This experience is what sets us apart from other designers. We see the subtle differences from woman to woman and know how to make beautiful clothing to make all women feel beautiful. The caliber of design has not gone unnoticed, and after just 6 months, Kajan Padraig was commissioned to design and fabricate two gowns for the San Francisco Opera Gala in September of 2010.

The show’s seventh cycle was the first of the shows among regular programming on UPN’s successor network, The CW, and thus far is the network’s highest rated series.[5] The opening theme is performed by Tyra Banks and is produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Banks co-produces the show with Ken Mok and Anthony Dominici, and is an independent production of 10 by 10 Entertainment and Bankable Productions (part of the dummy company/joint venture Pottle Productions), distributed for The CW by Bankable Productions and syndicated internationally by KingWorld (and its successor CBS Television Distribution).[6] For the 2006–2007, 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 television seasons, ANTM was the #1 show in average viewers on The CW.[7] SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA
