Brooklyn Circus SF, Block Party [Recap]

The Brooklyn Circus/BKc story begins in 2006 in a quaint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York with the aim to strengthen consumers’ appreciation for classic aesthetics and antique motifs whilst upholding the pillars of modern design within a hundred year plan. With time-tested values of classic American craftsmanship, a love for urban tradition, vintage sensibilities, and an endless search for the timeless silhouette, the empowerment and authenticity.

Founded by graphic designer Ouigi Theodore and developed by an arsenal of visionaries fueled by a common purpose, this bustling junction of style and character is always an experience. Beyond embracing techniques of timeless craftsmanship and sophisticated simplicity, The BKc fosters creative relationships, providing a social sanctuary for open-minded forward-thinkers. Every cuff of trouser, roll of the sleeves, and peaking pocket square is connected to a greater story, as they’ve succeeded at tailoring not only cloth and fabric, but lifestyles. With flagships now in Chicago and San Francisco, The BKc’s inspirational clout has solidified its cult following which has grown exponentially and globally.

  • DARIO SMITH is the co-founder The Bellwether Project [  http://thebellwetherproject.tumblr.com/  ] and the street photographer of DS Lite [ http://dslitephoto.tumblr.com/ ] He majored in photo journalism with a heavy emphasis on fashion and style. He defines style as an extension of ones character and believes that fashion is the grounds for sophistication. In harmony these two create the classic and innovative art that we’ve come to love on a universal level. This concept of aesthetics has always been an umbrella to his trajectory. He shoots to capture this sartorial harmony locally in mandate to express the notion that the San Francisco Bay Area “does” have an iconic flare that is not always noted in magazines, blogs, or in general fashion media. He is dedicated to seeing a brighter future for the SF Bay area fashion and style community and makes a point to capture all of the glory that the local landscape has to offer, fashion wise, to share with the world. So put on your best ensemble Bay Area, he’s looking for you!

SF Design Week 2012: Kickoff Party (Recap)

[ Photos by MAY SUEN @http://www.maysuen.com/ ]

The “Design Worlds” of San Francisco converged on Jaspers for a sold-out SF Design Week opening party hosted by AIGA San Francisco, Puccini Group, Whole Foods and 7X7 Magazine. Guests enjoyed Campari cocktails and appetizers, live chalkboard art, greeting from 7X7 Magazine Editor Chloé Harris Frankeny and a presentation by the team that designed Jaspers

AIGA San Francisco is partnered all week with AIA, IDSA, SEGD, RDI, SFFAMA, and IXDA for an amazing line-up of events and a fantastic opportunity to meet the people and groups who are literally designing San Francisco.

Since 2006, AIGA San Francisco has organized San Francisco Design Week as a way to reach out to a diverse community of over 20,000 Bay Area design professionals as well as local businesses, non-profits, entrepreneurs, students, the design-savvy public, tourists, and more. AIGA SF will be partnering with the San Francisco chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the Interaction Design Association (IxDA), the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), and Adobe Systems, to sponsor a full week of events highlighting the diversity and professionalism of the design community around the bay. Our goal is to raise public awareness of the impact that all design-graphic, product, interior, fashion, architecture, advertising, et cetera-has in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Every piece in this unique series can be exhibited as sculpture or on the moving body. Amanda chooses this format to tell stories about personal and universal experiences. Each part of her collection is an observation of people and their different environments. Juxtaposing the body with unusual materials and proportions, ZuBauen pushes the limits of design and fashion in both style and substance. ZuBauen consists of clothing that is not governed by season or trend, but personal and global issues that affect us all.

talkTECH Communications is a group of smart, savvy, business-minded individuals who have taken the downfall of big business and the lessons of “Recession 2.0″ to heart and created a company to serve the start-up community and business middle-class: a class that invariably constitutes the backbone of our economy, and whose innovations will lead us into the mobile future.

We also understand the four basic laws of supply and demand and how those pesky, little laws impact your business. We know that you don’t exist in a vacuum, and it’s not enough to simply get you a “hit” on the evening news. Our goal is to use the discipline of communications as it applies to your business, while leveraging innovative technologies to develop a creative strategy for distributing your news and information; and then giving you data and statistics that will tell you exactly how our efforts translate into real-time, relevant, meaningful tools for growing your brand.

Our tested and proven process will not only get you seen, but will get people talking, sharing, and connecting with you so that you can utilize communications as a tool – not an end unto itself.

Stitch Labs was officially launched in January 2011. Based in San Francisco, the company’s motto is, “We grow our business by helping you grow your business”. Sounds pretty good, right? Stitch Labs aims to be the thread that holds the many different aspects of a business together. It is the hope of Brandon, Michelle and Jake, that, with users’ feedback, the site will continually evolve into an even more powerful and intuitive tool to integrate businesses’ tasks into a single, united process. Stitch Labs was designed to be a web based solution to factors limiting the growth of businesses that design, make, and sell products. There are no upcoming versions, no new releases, no waiting for improvements. We are committed to continuously ensuring that our customers are working with the latest model, the most advanced tools to help them achieve their goals in as effective a way as possible. We are constantly adding new functions, expanding our capabilities, and are committed to letting our customers’ needs guide us in the right direction.

CAMELIA SKIKOS. After completing a degree in Fashion Design at the University of Art in Romania, Camelia moved to London where she further defined more of her fashion studies while working as a Fashion Illustrator and Designer for various British brands.

In 2003 Camelia relocated to San Francisco where she accepted a position as a head designer at Levi Strauss. While working for Levi’s she was also designing for GAP and teaching Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University. Curently Camelia is working for her own label and continues teaching at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Camelia’s design philosophy stems from a continuing fascination with the human body form resulting in carefully orchestrated designs that fit to perfection. Her technique involves using geometric shapes and combining them with the human body. The result creates a multidimensional effect of innovation, dynamism and a sophisticated sense of femininity with an edge. All garments are made in California.
