Joanna Jia Couture : "Water Of Life" Artisanal Fashion Exhibition

Welcome to the San Francisco Fashion Week x International Ladies Charity Federation | 2024 Joanna Jia Couture Fashion Exhibition! Join us for an immersive showcase of the 2024 collections of Joanna Jia Couture at Temple San Francisco.

Joanna Jia Couture is excited to exhibit the 2024 Artisanal Exhibition of Joanna Jia Couture, where fashion meets artistry in a breathtaking showcase of exquisite and unique collections. This year, we are thrilled to premiere Joanna Jia's stunning new haute couture collection, Water of Life —an ethereal tribute to the wonders of the ocean and a celebration of our connection to this vital element of life. Joanna Jia Couture will also showcase other collections, along with the support from ILCF.

*Water of Life*, is an evocative homage to the fluidity, resilience, and beauty of water, merging high couture with eco-conscious design. This collection features gowns and separates that flow and shimmer in shades of deep ocean blue, serene turquoise, and luminescent pearl white, embodying the many moods of water. Each piece captures a sense of movement, as layers of lightweight silk organza, ethereal chiffon, and lustrous satin ripple and cascade to emulate the look and feel of cascading water.

Intricate beadwork and hand-stitched sequins glisten like droplets in sunlight, while asymmetrical drapes and flowing silhouettes evoke the natural, unrestrained movement of waves and waterfalls. A blend of organic materials and recycled fabrics are used throughout the collection, reflecting Jia’s commitment to sustainable practices.

About Joanna Jia Couture:

Since establishing the brand in 1997, Joanna Jia Couture was founded by designer Joanna Jia in China. As a graduate of the Yun Nan Arts University, Joanna Jia started her own brand with the mission to redesign and transform Asian cultural wear with her own elegant and modernist edge. Joanna Jia Couture has graced the catwalks of San Francisco Fashion Week, Silicon Valley Fashion Week, San Francisco Chinatown Fashion Week, International Charity Ladies Federation charity galas, and more. With roots engrained in deep cultural heritage, Joanna Jia Couture brings an avant garde perspective on Asian culture with her powerful fashion statements.

  • ROGUE. Established in 1999, Rogue began a men’s collection of updated classic outerwear with downtown influences. Built around the lifestyle of New York based designer Jimmy Reilly, the casual masculine leather and cloth outerwear collection rapidly gained prominence in top retail stores across North America. For more than a decade Rogue’s distinct identity, fit and market leadership inspired its designer to further develop the vision. In the Autumn of 2009, the scope of that vision was realized in the expansion of the brand as a contemporary men’s lifestyle collection. The brands identity embodies its classic beginnings with new developments amplifying the unique attitude and sophisticated style. Every garment is constructed and treated to have a worn look and personality. This unique individuality is achieved through experimental practices in fabric development and garment finishing. In the end, the Rogue’s perfect patina is achieved through specialized washing, dyeing and finishing techniques. The branded hardware, zippers, snaps and buttons are well engineered and finish each garment with character and superior quality. The untiring creative use of exclusive applications define the brand as exciting, innovative and wearable. The Rogue collection can be found in top department stores and specialty boutiques worldwide. Press Release DEFINE: BEAUTY Presented By Groundwork Opportunities

[San Francisco, CA, AUGUST 24TH, 2011] - Groundwork Opportunities invites you to Define: Beauty as we embrace fashion to show the intrinsic beauty found within all human beings. The first annual fashion show and fundraiser, Define: Beauty, will be held at the sleek and ultra modern Madrone Studios (1417 15th Street) on Thursday, September 29th, 2011, with a reception at 6:30pm and the show at 7:30pm.  Define: Beauty will feature 50 looks from eight designers to illustrate and challenge notions of beauty. One hundred percent of proceeds from Define: Beauty will fund a clean water well for 4,000 people in Moshi, Tanzania.

The Groundwork Opportunities team found inspiration for Define: Beauty while scouting sites for a clean water well with community members in Moshi, Tanzania.  The women of Moshi did not define beauty by the latest styles or labels.  Instead they defined individual beauty by one’s selflessness, inner strength and community.  Define: Beauty brings together designers who reflect the spectrum of beauty seen in Tanzania across collections that range from organic and ornate to fantastic and recycled.  The show will also feature a dynamic multimedia installation that demonstrates community through audience participation.

“By catalyzing a community of support around change, GO demonstrates the power of engaged people to do ANYTHING.  The future is not written … yet!"says Glynn Washington, host of NPR’s Snap Judgment.

Define: Beauty will showcase looks from Cari Borja, Ken Chen, Dallas Coulter, Sarah Liller, MENK, Kajan Padraig, Retrofit Republic and Daniel Sudar to an audience of 300.  Hair and makeup will be artfully executed by CODE salon.  Define: Beauty also offers an enhanced VIP package through Gilt City, and will have expertly crafted bites from Mission Cheese and Beast and the Hare.

“Given the many eco-friendly and socially responsible fashion shows, we wanted to focus on a specific cause to let guests directly see the community they are supporting and demonstrate how our support can impact their ideas, ” says Bartlomiej Jan Skorupa, executive director of Groundwork Opportunities.

Tickets are available through Groundwork Opportunities at www.goworks.org/events until September 28th. Drinks and bites are included in admission.  General admission tickets are $45 for advance purchase or for $55 at the door.  VIP tickets are $75 for advance purchase or $90 at the door.
