SFFAMA and 5 Claude Lane celebrated the fall season with FASHION RACKED, a trunk show and a networking event for the SF local fashion industry coinciding with ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ on Thursday, Sept. 8th, 2011. The fun-filled evening was attended by fashionistas who mingled with shoppers, fashion entrepreneurs, bloggers and emerging designers. A fashion celebration, indeed.

The Westfield Style Tour 2011 with TLC's What Not to Wear Stacy London

Westfield Style Tour 2011 — a true style extravaganza — is headed for Westfield San Francisco Centre this fall. It’s free and open to the public. Here are the dates and times:

  • Saturday, Sept. 10 – 12pm to 7pm
  • Sunday, Sept. 11 – 12pm to 6pm
  • Saturday, Sept. 17 – 12pm to 7pm
  • Sunday, Sept. 18 – 12pm to 6pm
  • All events will be held Under the Dome on Level 4.

Now in its third year, The Westfield Style Tour is the award-winning, total sensory fashion experience offering shoppers the opportunity to attend fashion shows, indulge in free professional beauty & style consultations and wardrobe fittings.

Shoppers will meet and work with top industry stylists from Style for Hire, selected and trained by Stacy London, star of TLC’s What Not to Wear and contributor to NBC’s Today show.

The third annual Westfield Style Tour is produced in association with IMG – producers of New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

When first arriving, shoppers can relax in the custom-designed Westfield Style Lounge, where they’ll get the premiere issue of Westfield Style Magazine. It’s a how-to fashion manual with features on the latest fall trends along with stories on Westfield retailers and their hottest product lines.

Stacy London is the editor-in-chief of the Magazine, which will be brought to life through the live experiences at the Westfield Style Tour.

Visitors then meet with a Style for Hire stylist to get their personalized consultation, complete with apparel recommendations from the Westfield Style Closet – a source for the trendiest merchandise from popular Westfield San Francisco retailers, including favorite national and international brands.

Parsons students and faculty are invited as Simon Collins, Dean of the School of Fashion, moderates the LG hosted panel. This year’s “PRÊT-À-PORTER SF” 2011, with mass market in mind, was an amalgamation of global fashion, technology and sophistication.   Designers hailed from Ireland, The Middle East, South Africa, Thailand, China, Russia and the United States, which was a genuine representation of today’s global fashion.  Sustainable fashion and technology were also an apparent theme, with Carol Wang’s presentation of bamboo fabrics, Sonas Denim’s literal take on recycling of denims and the stylish integration of advanced materials and design with personal media technology by Alphyn Industries. Anya Tatarenko, Kajan Padraig  and LHC Couture with WorkPlayDate and Sasha Maksutenko jewelries, brought clean sophistication to the runway with beautifully fitted and elegant women’s ready to wear. Frankees Samad debuted her design with her personal modernizations of Islamic dress.

Gladys Perint Palmer to be honored with Stellar Honorary Award on Sunday’s award ceremony (08/28/2011) at The Phoenix Hotel/ Chamber. Door opens at 1pm. Ceremony starts at 3pm. 

Gladys Perint Palmer is an esteemed illustrator, writer and tutor. Palmer was born in Budapest, Hungary, she now lives in San Rafael, California with her husband, the writer and opera producer Simon Palmer. Palmer is the Executive Director of Fashion at San Francisco’s Academy of Art. She studied fashion design at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art in London, under the guidance of illustrator Elizabeth Suter. She attended Parsons School of Design in New York where she majored in fashion illustration.

Her works are featured in: The Sunday Times, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Russian L'Officiel and Vogue.
