Ryzenberg On: Midwinter Maxi Skirts

Don’t be sad we have a few weeks of winter left — just make the most of it. If you are tired of wearing pants, leggings and jeans, (repeat, wash, dry clean, repeat) lower your seams and go for maxi skirts.

These ultra long fun pieces not only elongate your gams, they are also a great transitional piece you can wear in spring and summer. Wear now with boots and a hat, and later with sandals or wedges. Jazz it up with some bold baubles to give it more of a bohemian feel.

A perfect cure to the winter blues and a sure bet to make you stand from the pack.

Ryzenberg On: SAG Awards Stunners

The Screen Actors Guild Awards is always a fun show to watch. Celebs are usually a little more relaxed, as they are judged by their own peers, but fortunately when it comes to style they all wore their Sunday best. ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘The Help’ were all crowned big winners, and many of its stars wowed on the red carpet.

The carpet was filled with color, jewels, risks and old Hollywood glam. Although some opted for a classic feel, I must say I was impressed by the array of gowns on display and the stars truly strutted their stuff.

Here are a few of the looks that caught my attention.

Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen — She truly masters the red carpet look. In this case, she opted for a black gown that was risky and playful, yet she pulled it off. The detail on the bodice was incredible and her Tiffany and Co. jewels were exquisite.

Zoe Saldaña in Givenchy Haute Couture — Whoever dressed Ms. Saldaña needs to win an award! This dress debuted on the Paris runway nearly four days ago and already made its way onto A-list stardom. This is a daring, fashion forward look that may start some sartorial debates, but its details are divine and it works very well with Zoe’s skin tone.

Julie Bowen in Temperley — The color of this dress and the shoulder details are incredible, but its back was the piece the resistance, as it was completely open. The ‘Modern Family’ star always kills it on the carpet. I also love her hair pulled back on a pony tail.

Emily Blunt in Oscar de la Renta — As soon as she stepped on the carpet, the Twitterverse lit up. Everyone commented on how amazing this bright green dress with a thigh-high split was. It was indeed flawless and it worked so well with her hair pulled back and minimal jewels. John Krasinski is one lucky guy.

Tilda Swinton in Lanvin — This trendsetting star, known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to red carpets, went the classic route in this Lanvin number.

Natalie Portman in Gianbasttista Valli — After winning a Golden Globe, a SAG award and the coveted Oscar last year, the new mom was back in the spotlight, but this time as a presenter. The petit star chose a monochromatic look and kept the accessories to a minimum. Her figure looks fantastic after giving birth to baby Aleph less than a year ago.

Viola Davis in Marchesa — Viola was indeed the belle of the ball tonight. Not only she nabbed the Best Actress award, but the cast of ‘The Help’ also won for Best Ensemble. Her marchesa gown made quite a statement with its rose gold floral embroidery bodice that showed her fit physique. The look was complete with stunning earrings and bangles accompanied with smoky eyes and a sexy ‘do.

Rose Byrne in Elie Saab — The ‘Bridesmaids’ star took a serious gamble by wearing a sequined jumpsuit with a plunging neckline. It works well with her bob and I love the 1970s vibe it brings. Although not mainstream and few people can pull it off, Rose absolutely rocked it and I applaud her for this choice!

Michelle Williams in Valentino — This is Hollywood glamour at its finest. Michelle is known for her impeccable sense of style and this number is certainly no exception. The winning touch? She went sans baubles, making her pixie cut and neckline the main focus.

Ryzenberg On: Tickle a Fashionista’s Fancy

After extensive blog research from the Ryzenberg On investigative unit, (OK, me) there are many things that stylish gals covet that go beyond clothes, shoes and baubles. But let me make something clear, we can never have enough of the aforementioned items.

However, since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, sometimes it’s the little things that make us smile and anything pretty will always wow us. We love good fresh smells, (perfumes, candles and flowers) anything sumptuous (warning: this one might follow a ‘do I look fat or have I gained weight’ ponder) and soft (puppies and kittens, please apply.)

So if you are looking to impress your girl of BFF, here are a few ideas that might make you one lucky dog, not just on Feb. 14 for year-round bliss. Oh yeah, and leave the lingerie for us to get, but if you really want a preview, make a date so that way Victoria doesn’t hold any secrets.

Ryzenberg On: Golden Globes’ Golden Looks

Awards season is in full force and everyone donned their Sunday best at theGolden Globes. ‘The Artist,’ ‘The Descendants,’ ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Homeland were the night’s big winners, and all of Hollywood’s gliterati sure shined.

Champaign colored dresses and classic tuxes dominated the red carpet, as some stars who opted to make a splash with a pop of color. Black is always a popular choice, always managing to make a cameo at all the right times!

Here are my top eight of the night:

Salma Hayek in Gucci S/S 2012 — Straight from the runway, Frida (Giannini, not Kahlo) is definitely smiling) I love sequins and this feistly Mexican (and dream of most pre-pubescent boys) knows how to show off her best assets.

Angelina Jolie in Versace Atelier — The epitome of Hollywood glam and color blocking. My birthday twin (yup, we are both June 4) rocked this ensemble by combining her red lipstick with the dress’ collar. This, ladies and gentleman, is how the trend gets done!

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen — She looks like a ‘Red Hot Momma’ in this mermaid gown, which is a hit. I guess the only think I would have tweaked on this look is the hair, as it would have been great to see it parted to the side and straight. The beachy locks somewhat make it look a bit too casual.

Emma Stone in Lanvin — So stunning and love the color contrast with her hair and smoky eyes.

Jessica Beil in Elie Saab — The hair color is great and the taffeta looks fantastic. Her fit physique really makes her look like a knock out in a long sleeve gown.

Jessica Alba in Gucci — Very elegant and classic. This mom of 2 sure knows how the steal the spotlight. I really hope when I have rugrats to look like this in just a matter of months)

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang — OK, I am biased, but this Latina always nails it! Va Va Vooom in all the right places, as she knows how to accentuate those curvas! I also love the hair parted to the side and the Harry Winston baubles.

Charlize Theron in Dior — This South African stunner always takes risks at red carpets. She’s been wearing ruffles and bows for a few seasons now, but really like the train on this gown. The whole looks works well with her svelte legs and kept her makeup to a minimum. J’ adore.

Ryzenberg On: Spotted — Céline Luggage Shopper Tote

Ryzenberg On: Spotted — Céline Luggage Shopper Tote

There is a new bag du jour in the fashionsphere. Céline’s Luggage Shopper Tote is amongst the most coveted items for celebs, models, editors and anyone with a keen sense of style.

So why is all of the sudden this Parisian house, famous for its polished looks, so sought-after? Well that’s simple, its creative director Phoebe Philo (formerly at Chloé) revived the brand and created an accessories line that usually steals the show during Paris Fashion Week. Another notable Celiné designer is Michael Kors, who in the late 1990s, was named the first womenswear and ready-to-wear designer and creative director. He developed several blockbuster collections and a critically acclaimed pret-a-porter line.

The brand has been around since 1945 and has kept its equestrian chic feel for decades. This is certainly a simple well-made bag that is versatile and timeless. It comes in several sizes and colors and will elevate a look to understated elegance.

When Céline debuted this purse in 2009, it was sold out for months and many were placed on wait lists worldwide. Now, although some colors are hard to find, you can find a piece of handbag heaven at SaksNeiman MarcusBarneys and other upscale stores.

But if you think it doesn’t come with a hefty price tag, THINK AGAIN. The line starts at about $1,000 and can go to as high as $3,500, so get ready to dish out the dough!

This is definitely some fabulous baggage you’ll want to carry.

Ryzenberg On: Bon Voyage Holiday Soiree at La Boutique SF

[  Photos By: Irina Bourova ]

Jackson Square’s La Boutique SF opened its doors for a fun-filled holiday party, and Jen Darling’s bags were the main focus.

The night featured lots of vino, snacks and the company of wonderful bloggers such as Erin from Apartment 34, Melissa from Savvy in San Francisco, Punam from Nothing Broken, Kim from J’adore Couture and Amber from Amber’s Notebook

Fun times had by all, and it was great catching up with these wonderful gals, meeting new friends and finally checking out La Boutique. The brainchild of Carole Harari hosts an array of exquisite clothes, accessories and artwork in a Parisian, yet rustic environment.

The two-story boutique and gallery features some of the most innovative European designers such as Firma from Germany, French brand Swildens and Collection 66 from Switzerland. If your style is more uptown meets Rue St. Honore, Cacharel, Zadig and Voltaire and Athe Vanessa Bruno will do the trick.

    La Boutique SF est magnifique!

    Ryzenberg On: Art Basel Celebrations

The 305 rolled out the red carpet last weekend for Art Basel Miami Beach and the glitterati took center stage.

What started out 11 years ago as a winter art fair to showcase modern art from around the world, has transformed into the most prestigious art fair in the Americas. The original Art Basel takes place every summer in Switzerland, and it’s sort of like a Fashion Week for the arts (and they both include beautiful people, enviable fashions and suberb art oh yeah, and splendid surroundings)

Hundreds of galleries from around the world gather at the Miami Beach Convention Center and show more than 2,000 pieces of art. This is more of a Mecca for modern art lovers, dealers, collectors curators and celebrities looking to add a new Warhol to their wall.

But Basel wouldn’t be complete without its well-known bashes, and this year it was no different. Roberto Cavalli attended the Raphael Mazzucco book launch at Mr. Chow, while Harley Viera-Newton attended the Dom Perignon Luminous Party at the W South Beach. Miami Heat Superstar Dwayne Wade, Lily Donaldson and Naomi Campbell made a cameo at the DSquared2 cocktail and dinner and style icon Daphne Guinness hosted a dinner for M.A.C. Louis Vuitton hosted the Art.sy Beachside Barbecue at Soho House and guests included model Dasha Zhukova, Adrien Brody and Waris Ahluwalia.

Other events included a Pringle of Scotland fete hosted by Tilda Swinton, a Missoni dinner and fashion show and countless other cocktails around town.

This is some serious elbow rubbing going on. This is not just movie stars parading around but investment bankers, models, artists and fashion designers pay a visit to Miami and its beautiful beaches during Basel. This is certainly the ‘IT’ scene for December - and what’s more marvelous is that jet setters don’t have to deal with snow and can sip mojitos on the beach wearing the latest resort collections.

Now what can be better than that?
